Arabian Travel Market 2026 opened at Dubai World Trade Centre on Monday, and Ras Al Khaimah is once again on the floor with one of the Northern Emirates’ larger destination stands. The 33rd edition of the region’s biggest travel trade show runs from 14 to 17 September under the theme “Travel 2040: Driving New Frontiers Through Innovation and Technology”, and it arrives at a useful moment for RAK — weeks after the emirate confirmed its strongest first half of tourism on record, and a year out from the opening that will redefine its profile entirely.
What Ras Al Khaimah Is Showing at ATM
The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority is exhibiting the emirate’s full spread: desert, coastline, mountain and roughly 7,000 years of settlement history, which is an unusual range to fit into a single small emirate. RAKTDA is also taking part in an ICCA panel on the Middle East’s business-events future, reflecting how much weight the emirate now places on conferences and incentive travel alongside leisure.
Trade shows like this are where destination marketing actually happens. Tour operators build next season’s programmes from conversations on these stands, airlines sound out route economics, and online travel agencies negotiate the distribution deals that decide which destination appears first when someone searches for a Gulf beach holiday. RAKTDA has used previous editions to sign agreements with major OTAs in China and Saudi Arabia, two source markets the emirate has been working hard to grow.
This year’s show leans heavily into technology, with a new ATM Travel Tech section bringing more than 180 enterprise technology firms from 30 countries and an 850-square-metre innovation hub covering robotics, payments, extended reality and decarbonisation tools. For a destination positioning itself around smart mobility — autonomous shuttles, planned air taxi links to Dubai — that is relevant ground.
The Backdrop: A Record Year and a Big 2027
Ras Al Khaimah comes to ATM 2026 with real numbers behind it. The emirate welcomed more than 670,000 visitors in the first half of the year, its best H1 on record, with domestic arrivals up sharply as UAE residents chose RAK for staycations. RAKTDA’s stated target is 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030, which implies roughly doubling the current hotel room count.
That pipeline is already visible. Rotana Ras Al Khaimah – The Mangroves is due this quarter, SAIJ Mountain Lodge by Mantis is expected to open on Jebel Jais before the end of the year, and Hilton Marjan Island Beach Resort & Spa is slated for Q4. Further out sits Wynn Al Marjan Island, now confirmed for September 2027, which will bring the UAE’s first casino and a level of international attention the emirate has never had to handle before.
The honest read is that RAK is selling two things at once at ATM: what a visitor can book today, and what the emirate expects to be by 2028. Both matter to the trade buyers walking the floor, and the second is arguably the harder sell — operators need lead time to build a destination into their brochures.
What This Means for Travellers
ATM is a trade event, not a consumer one, so there is nothing to attend if you are simply planning a holiday. But what gets agreed on that floor this week shapes what you will be able to book next year: which airlines fly in, which packages exist, and how competitively RAK is priced against Dubai and Oman.
The practical takeaway for anyone planning a trip is that the emirate is heading into a period of rapid supply growth. More rooms usually means more choice and softer rates in the near term, particularly in the shoulder months — though that dynamic is likely to reverse once Wynn opens and demand spikes. If you have been considering a visit, the window between now and late 2027 may well be the most relaxed version of Ras Al Khaimah you will get.
For planning, our guides to RAK hotels and things to do in Ras Al Khaimah cover what is open and bookable right now, and the itineraries section has suggested routes for anything from a long weekend to a full week across the emirate’s main areas.
