Quick answer
- Headline thrill: the world’s longest zipline on Jebel Jais.
- Also on the mountain: the toboggan-style sledder and Via Ferrata.
- Beyond the peak: hiking trails and desert dune adventures.
- Book ahead: the big-ticket activities sell out in peak season.
Ras Al Khaimah has become the UAE’s adventure capital, and almost all of it centres on Jebel Jais, the country’s highest mountain. The emirate is home to the world’s longest zipline, a mountain sledder, a Via Ferrata climbing route and a growing network of hiking trails, with desert dune adventures filling out the picture inland. If you want adrenaline on your trip, this is where to plan it.
The world’s longest zipline
The flagship experience is the record-breaking zipline near the summit of Jebel Jais, where you fly head-first above the mountains at high speed. It is the single most popular adventure booking in RAK, so reserve ahead, especially at weekends and in the cooler season. Full details are in our Jebel Jais zipline guide.
The sledder, Via Ferrata and hiking
Lower-intensity but still exciting, the toboggan-style mountain sledder winds down the slope and suits a wider range of ages. The Via Ferrata combines climbing and crossing fixed routes along the cliffs, and there is a network of marked hiking trails for those who prefer to explore on foot. The full mountain picture is in our Jebel Jais guide.
Desert adventures
Away from the mountain, the dunes offer dune bashing, quad biking, sandboarding and camel rides, usually as part of a desert safari. These pair well with a sunset and a dinner camp.
