The verdict

Is Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island worth it?

Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island is a 515-room four-star select-service beach hotel on Al Marjan Island — the largest Hampton anywhere in the world, and the brand’s first resort. It sits on its own 750-metre private beach, re-sanded with fresh white sand in April 2025, below a 490 sqm temperature-controlled infinity pool. Rates start from around AED 300, which makes it one of the best-value beach stays on the island. It is not an all-inclusive resort: the standard rate includes a hot breakfast, and an optional all-inclusive plan is sold separately, unusual in this price bracket for including alcohol from noon to midnight. Two caveats: Al Marjan Island is under heavy construction for the Wynn development and the hotel has publicly acknowledged the noise is outside its control.

Hampton is normally a roadside select-service brand, so a 515-room beach resort under that badge is an odd proposition — and it works better than it should. You get a real beach, a proper pool and an optional all-inclusive plan that includes drinks, for roughly half what the five-stars charge. It is still a select-service hotel, though, not a full resort.

What you do not get is quiet. The resort is large, it runs full, and the island around it is a construction site until Wynn opens.

What it’s actually like

The world’s largest Hampton — a select-service hotel with 750 metres of beach

Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island opened in July 2021 with 515 rooms, which makes it the largest Hampton by Hilton anywhere. It sits on Al Marjan Island with 750 metres of its own beach, an infinity pool and a kids’ club, and rates start from around AED 300.

The important thing to be clear about is what Hampton is. It is Hilton’s select-service brand: the room, the breakfast and the basics are done properly and consistently, and the extras a full resort would provide are either absent or charged for. This page previously described the property as an all-inclusive resort. It is not one. An optional all-inclusive board plan is sold, but the hotel itself is select-service, and that distinction changes what you should expect on arrival.

It works very well for families — roughly half the 515 rooms interconnect, which is an unusually high proportion, and the beach is long. The reason to hesitate is that at a similar nightly rate you can book a full-service resort on the same island with more facilities per dirham. You are trading depth of facilities for scale, brand consistency and beach frontage. Al Marjan Island is also an active construction site: work on Wynn Al Marjan Island continues until its 2027 opening, and guests report noise.

  • Main drawback: select-service, so fewer facilities than a full resort at a similar rate

Location

Al Marjan Island is the emirate’s purpose-built resort district: four reclaimed islands with a promenade and a dense run of hotels. Hilton puts the hotel 77 km from Dubai International Airport, which is around an hour and a quarter by road. Being on the island, on a long beach, with other hotels’ restaurants within reach is more than most mid-priced RAK hotels offer — compare the wider field in hotels on Al Marjan Island.

The island is also being built out. Wynn Al Marjan Island is due to open in September 2027, and the adjacent Hilton Marjan Island Beach Resort & Spa is a further 350-key property in development. Construction noise is a live and recurring complaint from guests, not a hypothetical one. If you are sensitive to it, ask for a room away from the works and check hotels near Wynn Al Marjan Island for the current picture.

Rooms and suites

Hilton publishes 515 rooms with sea or island views. About half interconnect, which is the single most useful fact on this page for a family of four or more — it means two rooms with a door between them at a mid-range rate, rather than one cramped family room or an expensive suite.

The rooms themselves are Hampton rooms: clean, consistent, functional, not luxurious. Hilton publishes no category-by-category breakdown. Guests rating it 4.6 on TripAdvisor from roughly 4,835 reviews are rating the beach, the value and the staff rather than the interiors.

Beach, pool, and facilities

The beach is 750 metres long according to Hilton’s own announcement, which is generous frontage for a hotel at this price and the main reason to choose it over a cheaper island option.

There is an infinity pool and a separate kids’ pool, a fitness centre, and a wellness centre with seven treatment rooms and separate wet areas for men and women. The Hub is the children’s and teens’ club, with four activity rooms and an outdoor playground.

What you do not get is the resort layer: no waterpark, no extensive watersports operation of its own, no sprawling grounds. That is the select-service trade in practice. If you want the full family-resort apparatus on the same island, compare the DoubleTree by Hilton Marjan Island and Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island.

Dining

More than the brand would suggest. Flavors is the all-day dining restaurant where the included hot breakfast is served. The View is the lobby café with a 24-hour market attached. H2O is the pool bar, with a beverage truck on the beach, and Surf’s Up is a beach food truck.

The two names worth knowing are CLAW BBQ, the American barbecue restaurant, and Karma Kafé by Buddha-Bar, the pan-Asian one. Both are established Dubai brands operating on site, and they are a large part of why the hotel eats better than its category implies.

An all-inclusive board plan is available but is not the default rate. Read what it covers before you buy it, particularly which of the branded restaurants are included, because that is where the value of the plan is won or lost. For the wider comparison, see the best all-inclusive resorts in Ras Al Khaimah.

Family suitability

This is the hotel’s strongest case. Around half the rooms interconnect, there is a kids’ pool, a supervised club with four activity rooms and a playground, a long beach, and a hot breakfast included in the rate. For a family of four or five it is one of the more economical ways to stay on Al Marjan Island.

The limits are the ones you would expect from a select-service hotel: no waterpark, no lazy river, a smaller activity programme than the big resorts, and 515 rooms’ worth of other guests around the pool in school holidays. If entertainment matters more than rate, check the best family hotels in Ras Al Khaimah.

Couples suitability

Workable but not the obvious choice. The beach is long and the two branded restaurants are good, but a 515-room family hotel is a busy place with no adults-only pool to retreat to. Couples who want quiet should spend the same money elsewhere on the coast.

What is good

  • 750 metres of beach, which few hotels at this rate can match
  • About half of the 515 rooms interconnect — excellent for families
  • CLAW BBQ and Karma Kafé by Buddha-Bar on site
  • Hot breakfast included in the room rate
  • Consistent guest scores: 4.6 on TripAdvisor from about 4,835 reviews

What is not good

  • Select-service, not a full resort — fewer facilities than neighbours at similar rates
  • Persistent construction noise on Al Marjan Island
  • 515 rooms means crowds at the pool and at breakfast in peak weeks
  • No waterpark and no adults-only area
  • All-inclusive is an add-on, not the standard rate, and is often misdescribed

Value verdict

From around AED 300, the beach frontage and the interconnecting rooms are what you are buying, and for a family they are worth real money. Two interconnecting Hampton rooms with breakfast on a 750-metre beach is a hard combination to beat on this island at this price.

For anyone else the maths is tighter: a couple paying a similar rate at a full-service resort gets more pool, more programme and more space. Price the all-inclusive plan carefully rather than assuming it is good value, and check live rates — island pricing moves a long way between low season and the winter peak.

Who should book Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island?

Book it if you are a family of four or more who will use the interconnecting rooms, if you want a long beach on Al Marjan Island without resort pricing, or if you value Hilton consistency and Honors points. It also suits groups who want CLAW BBQ and Karma Kafé on the doorstep.

Who should skip it?

Skip it if you want a full resort experience — waterpark, large spa, extensive grounds — because that is not what a Hampton is. Skip it if you are a couple wanting quiet, or if construction noise would spoil the trip. And do not book it believing it is an all-inclusive resort; it is a select-service hotel that sells an all-inclusive plan.

FAQ

Is Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island all-inclusive?

No. It is a select-service hotel and the standard rate includes a hot breakfast, not full board. An optional all-inclusive plan is sold, but it is an add-on rather than the default. Check exactly which restaurants and drinks the plan covers before buying it.

Is this really the largest Hampton by Hilton?

Yes. Hilton stated at opening in July 2021 that the 515-room property is the largest Hampton by Hilton in the world. That scale is why it can offer 750 metres of beach and a large proportion of interconnecting rooms at a mid-market rate.

How many rooms interconnect?

Hilton put the figure at approximately half of the 515 rooms at opening, which is unusually high. It is the main reason the hotel suits larger families. Interconnecting rooms cannot normally be guaranteed at booking, so request them early and reconfirm before you travel.

Is there construction noise on Al Marjan Island?

Yes, and it is a recurring theme in guest reviews. Wynn Al Marjan Island is due to open in September 2027 and further hotels are in development on the island, including a full-service Hilton next door. Ask for a room away from active works when you book.

Bottom line

Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island is a very good family hotel and a slightly awkward one to categorise. Judge it as a select-service hotel with an unusually long beach and a lot of interconnecting rooms and it is strong value. Judge it as an all-inclusive resort — which it is not, whatever some listings say — and you will be disappointed by the facilities.

How this review was prepared

This review is desk research. It draws on Hilton’s own published material and opening announcement for the property, on its current fact sheet and outlet listings, and on verified guest-review data from TripAdvisor and Booking.com. It is not based on a paid or hosted stay, and RAKTraveller did not receive accommodation from the property.

We have corrected an earlier description of this hotel as an all-inclusive resort. Rates, board plans and facilities change; confirm what your rate includes with the hotel before booking.

Good to know

Your questions, answered

How do I get there, and is there a shuttle?

Hilton publishes 84km to Dubai International, 38km to Ras Al Khaimah International and 70km to Sharjah, and offers no airport shuttle for any of them. Allow 60 to 75 minutes from Dubai rather than the 40 minutes sometimes quoted. Free covered self-parking with EV charging is available.

Does it have its own beach?

Yes — a 750-metre private sandy beach, renovated with fresh white sand in April 2025. Above it is a 490 sqm temperature-controlled infinity pool and a separate children’s pool. Turtle Beach nearby is a different, public beach and not part of the hotel.

What does the all-inclusive plan cover?

Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the all-day dining restaurant, with alcohol available from noon until midnight. Selected soft and alcoholic drinks are served at the restaurant, pool bar, lobby cafe and beach truck. Meals start with lunch after check-in and end with breakfast before check-out.

Is it right for families?

It is built for them. The kids club runs four activity rooms by age band for children four to twelve, plus a teens arcade for thirteen to seventeens, and all activities are free bar the game consoles. About half the 515 rooms interconnect and children up to eighteen stay free sharing with an adult.

When is the best time to visit?

June is usually the cheapest month, with August rates also low. October to April is the comfortable season. One point specific to this hotel: Al Marjan Island is under heavy construction, and the hotel has publicly confirmed the surrounding noise is beyond its control — expect it until the Wynn development completes.
