Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah
A dependable four-star city hotel in Al Nakheel, with a complimentary shuttle to the beach.
Is Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah worth it?
Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah is a four-star city hotel aimed at business travellers and short stays rather than beach holidays. Rates start around AED 220 a night, well below the coastal resorts. You get a predictable international brand standard, a central city location close to the malls, museum and souq, and Hilton Honors benefits if you collect points. What you do not get is a beach, a resort programme or the facilities that make a week-long stay work. Book it for one to three nights, for work, or as a cheaper base for exploring Jebel Jais and the city — not as a substitute for a resort stay on the coast.
There is a specific case for this hotel: you know exactly what a Hilton Garden Inn is before you arrive, which has real value on a work trip or a one-night stop.
It is not competing with the resorts and should not be judged against them. Compare it with Citymax and the other city options, where it sits a clear step up in finish for a modest step up in price.
What makes it special
A known brand standard
You know what you are getting before you arrive, which matters on a work trip or a single-night stop.
Central city position
Close to Al Naeem and Al Manar malls, the National Museum and the corniche, rather than isolated on a resort strip.
Better value than the coast
Rates sit well below the beach resorts, which makes it a sensible base if you will be out most of the day.
Hilton Honors benefits
Points, status recognition and member rates apply, which the independent city hotels cannot offer.
Which room should you book?
Views change the stay here more than square metres do — decide between sea, pool and fairway before you compare rates.

Standard King Room
The base category to the usual Hilton Garden Inn specification — work desk, decent bed and a functional bathroom. Built for one or two nights rather than a week.

Twin Room
The same standard in a twin layout for colleagues or friends sharing. Confirm bed configuration when booking, as availability varies.

Family Room
A larger room for families needing space on a budget. Check occupancy limits and extra-bed policy directly with the hotel.

What it’s actually like
A working city hotel with a free beach shuttle — the leisure loophole in central RAK
Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah opened in May 2017 on Bin Daher Street in Al Nakheel, in the middle of the city rather than on the coast. It has 240 rooms, including 10 family rooms and eight suites, over 500 sqm of meeting space, two tennis courts and an outdoor pool. Rates start from around AED 230.
This is a business hotel first. Its core audience is people in Ras Al Khaimah to work, to attend an event in the 380 sqm pillar-less Khuzam Ballroom, or to sleep somewhere reliable before driving to Jebel Jais. It does that job well: TripAdvisor rates it 4.5 from about 1,290 reviews, ninth of 38 hotels in the emirate, and Hotels.com guests give it 8.2.
The reason it is worth a leisure traveller’s attention at all is the complimentary shuttle to the beach facilities at Hilton’s resort on the coast, which was part of the offer at opening. That is the loophole: a city rate with beach access attached. The reason to hesitate is that a shuttle is not a beach on your doorstep. You travel on someone else’s timetable, and shuttle arrangements are exactly the kind of thing hotels quietly change — confirm it in writing with the hotel before you book on that basis.

- Main drawback: it is a city hotel, not a resort
Location
Al Nakheel is the commercial centre of Ras Al Khaimah, on the creek that splits the city. Hilton puts the hotel about 1.7 km from the city centre and roughly 21 km from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. Al Naeem Mall and Al Manar Mall are close, and the old souq, the National Museum and the Corniche are short drives.
The creek is the defining feature of this part of the city and the hotel sits beside it, but Hilton does not sell a creek-view room category on its own site. If an outlook over the water matters, ask the hotel directly rather than assuming. What you cannot do from here is walk to the sea.
Rooms and suites
Hilton publishes 240 rooms, of which 10 are family rooms and eight are suites. The standard product is the usual Hilton Garden Inn one: king or queen rooms, a work desk, a fridge, a consistent fit-out that does the job. Guests rating it 4.5 on TripAdvisor are rating reliability, not character.
The family rooms and suites are the ones worth asking about, because there are very few of them. If you are travelling with children and want the extra space, book early; with 18 larger units across a 240-room hotel, they go first during school holidays and event weeks.
Beach, pool, and facilities
There is an outdoor pool with lounge seating and a separate shaded children’s pool, plus a fitness centre and two tennis courts — unusual for a city hotel of this size and genuinely useful if you are here for a week of work.
The beach is off site. At opening, Hilton offered guests complimentary shuttle access to the beach facilities at its resort on the Ras Al Khaimah coast. Treat that as the current position only if the hotel confirms it for your dates; shuttle timetables and partner arrangements change, and this one is the single fact that makes the hotel interesting to a holidaymaker.
On the business side, the hotel has over 500 sqm of flexible meeting space. The Khuzam Ballroom is 380 sqm and pillar-less, and divides into three, with pre-function areas, four smaller meeting rooms and outdoor garden venues alongside it. For Ras Al Khaimah that is a serious events offer.
Dining
Four outlets, and they are honest about their scale. The Garden Grille serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hopfenberg is the bar, built around German beers. There is a pool bar for daytime food and drinks, and The Shop sells snacks, drinks and ready-to-cook items. Room service covers international and local dishes.
That is enough for a few nights and thin for a week. The advantage of a city location is that you are not stuck with it: Al Nakheel has restaurants and two malls nearby, which is more choice than any resort here offers. If you want everything on site, look at the all-inclusive resorts in Ras Al Khaimah.
Family suitability
Workable rather than designed for it. There is a shaded children’s pool, a kids’ menu and 10 family rooms, and the malls nearby cover a hot afternoon.
But there is no kids’ club, no beach on site and no animation programme, and only 18 larger rooms and suites in the building. A family holiday here is a city break with a pool, not a resort holiday. For the latter, start with the best family hotels in Ras Al Khaimah.
Couples suitability
It is not a couples hotel and does not pretend to be. There is no spa, no beach and no romantic setting; the atmosphere is corporate and the bar is a beer bar. Couples using the city as a base for Jebel Jais will find it comfortable and well priced. Couples wanting a holiday should book on the coast, or compare hotels on Al Marjan Island.
What is good
- Reliable international brand standard with Hilton Honors benefits
- Central Al Nakheel location with restaurants and two malls nearby
- Complimentary beach shuttle, which no other city hotel here matches
- Two tennis courts, a gym, an outdoor pool and a shaded children’s pool
- A 380 sqm pillar-less ballroom and over 500 sqm of meeting space
- Strong guest scores: 4.5 on TripAdvisor from about 1,290 reviews
What is not good
- No beach or resort facilities on site — the shuttle is the only beach access
- Shuttle arrangements can change; confirm before booking on that basis
- Only 18 family rooms and suites across 240 rooms
- No spa and no kids’ club
- Four outlets is thin for a stay longer than a few nights
Value verdict
At around AED 230 this is priced sensibly for what it is: a 2017-build international four-star in the middle of a city, with a pool, tennis courts and a ballroom. Against the RAK resorts it looks cheap, but that is not the right comparison — it is competing with the other city hotels on and around Bin Daher Street, where the gap is narrower.
The value argument turns on the shuttle. If you use it, you are getting beach access for a city rate, and few hotels in the emirate can say that. If you do not use it, you are paying a fair price for a functional business hotel and should judge it on that alone. Compare it against the cheapest hotels in Ras Al Khaimah before you decide, and check live rates for your dates.
Who should book Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah?
Book it if you are travelling for work, attending an event, or want a dependable, well-located base for Jebel Jais and the emirate’s historic sites. It also suits Hilton Honors members who want points and a known standard, and budget-minded travellers who will use the beach shuttle rather than pay resort rates.
Who should skip it?
Skip it if you want a beach holiday, a spa, a kids’ club or a resort atmosphere. Skip it too if you are staying a week with children and expect on-site entertainment, or if you want to walk out of the lobby onto sand. This hotel is honest about being a city hotel; book it on those terms or not at all.

FAQ
Does Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah have a beach?
Not on site. It is a city hotel in Al Nakheel. At opening, Hilton offered guests complimentary shuttle access to the beach facilities at its resort on the Ras Al Khaimah coast. Confirm the shuttle is running on your dates before you book the hotel for beach access.
How many rooms does the hotel have?
Hilton publishes 240 rooms, made up of standard king and queen rooms plus 10 family rooms and eight suites. The larger categories are a small share of the building, so book them well ahead if you need the space during school holidays or a busy event week.
Is Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah good for a Jebel Jais trip?
Yes, it is one of the more practical bases. You are in the city with easy road access to the mountain road, restaurants and shops nearby for supplies, and about 21 km from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport if you are flying in and out quickly.
Does the hotel have meeting and event space?
Yes, and it is the strongest part of the property. There is over 500 sqm of flexible space, including a 380 sqm pillar-less ballroom that divides into three rooms, two pre-function areas, four smaller meeting rooms and outdoor garden venues for events.
Bottom line
Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah is a good business hotel that happens to have one feature a holidaymaker can use. Book it for work, for an event, or as a cheap, reliable base for the mountains and the old city. Book it for a beach holiday only if you have confirmed the shuttle — and even then, understand you are borrowing someone else’s beach.
How this review was prepared
This review is desk research. It draws on Hilton’s own published material for the hotel, on trade reporting of the property’s 2017 opening, and on verified guest-review data from TripAdvisor and Hotels.com. It is not based on a paid or hosted stay, and RAKTraveller did not receive accommodation from the property.

Your questions, answered
Does Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah have a beach?
No. It is a city hotel with no private beach and no resort beach service. Public beaches on the corniche are a short drive away. For a beach holiday, book on Al Marjan Island, at Al Hamra or at Mina Al Arab instead.
Who is it best for?
Business travellers, people making short stops, and anyone who wants a dependable brand standard at city prices. It also works as a cheaper base if your trip is built around Jebel Jais, the souq and the museum rather than a pool.
How far is it from Dubai?
Allow around 70 minutes from Dubai International in normal traffic, and roughly 25 minutes from Ras Al Khaimah International. The city location shortens the drive inland to Jebel Jais compared with the coastal resorts.
Is it worth it over the cheaper city hotels?
It sits a clear step up in finish and consistency from the budget city options for a modest step up in price, and it earns Hilton Honors points. If brand predictability matters to you, that gap is usually worth paying.
When is the best time to stay?
October to April is the comfortable season for sightseeing. Because this is not a beach property, the summer heat penalty is smaller — you are mostly moving between air-conditioned spaces — and rates fall further in the hottest months.
So, is Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah the right call?
If you’re after business · short stays · brand familiarity in a four-star setting, it’s hard to beat. Winter dates book out early — lock yours in.
