Five days in Ras Al Khaimah gives you enough time to understand the destination without rushing.
You can settle into a resort, visit Jebel Jais, plan a desert safari, add one cultural or local experience, and still have time for the beach. That balance is where RAK works best.
The mistake is trying to fill every day. Ras Al Khaimah is not Dubai. Its strength is a slower resort rhythm with a few well-chosen activities.
The short version
A good 5-day Ras Al Khaimah itinerary looks like this:
- Day 1: Arrival, hotel check-in, beach or pool
- Day 2: Resort day and Al Hamra or Al Marjan dinner
- Day 3: Jebel Jais day trip
- Day 4: Desert safari or Suwaidi Pearl Farm
- Day 5: Slow morning, beach time, final dinner or departure
Who this itinerary is for
This itinerary suits:
- First-time visitors
- Couples
- Families
- UK travellers adding RAK after Dubai
- Travellers who want winter sun without a full week away
- Visitors who want beach time plus activities
For a complete resort holiday, seven days is better. But five days is enough for a strong first trip.
Where to stay for 5 days
For most travellers, the best bases are:
Al Marjan Island
Best for resort-led beach holidays, families, all-inclusive stays and travellers interested in Wynn Al Marjan.
Al Hamra
Best for a slightly more established base, golf, dining flexibility and a practical resort holiday.
Jebel Jais or desert-style stays
Best if the landscape is the focus, but less practical for a first general RAK itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival and settling in
Arrive through Dubai or RAK
Most UK travellers arrive through Dubai, then transfer to Ras Al Khaimah by road.
Book your transfer before travelling. After a long flight, the last thing you want is to negotiate the final leg.
Check in and slow down
Use the first day to understand your resort. Find the beach, pool, breakfast area, restaurants and any family facilities.
Dinner at the hotel

Keep dinner simple. Arrival day is best spent close to your room, especially with children.
Day 2: Beach, pool and local area

Morning: Beach or pool
Start the trip properly with a slow resort morning. This is what many people come to RAK for.
Afternoon: Spa, kids’ club or hotel activities
Use the facilities you are already paying for. If the hotel has a good pool, beach, gym, spa or kids’ club, let the day stay easy.
Evening: Eat outside the main buffet
If you are on half-board, try an à-la-carte option if included. If not, consider dinner in Al Hamra or another hotel restaurant nearby.
Day 3: Jebel Jais

Morning: Mountain drive
Start early and head to Jebel Jais.
The drive gives you a different version of the UAE: rocks, mountain roads, viewpoints and cooler air.
Midday: Viewpoints or zipline
Choose based on your travel style.
Families with younger children may prefer viewpoints. Adventurous couples, groups or older children may want the zipline.
Afternoon: Return and rest
Do not schedule a demanding evening after Jebel Jais unless you know you will have the energy.
Evening: Casual dinner
A casual hotel dinner works well after the mountain day.
Day 4: Desert or heritage

Choose one of these two routes.
Option 1: Desert safari
Best if this is your first UAE trip or you want a classic evening experience.
Ask about dune bashing, child suitability, pick-up times and what is included.
Option 2: Suwaidi Pearl Farm
Best if you want something more specific to RAK’s coastal history.
It is slower, more educational and less theatrical than a desert safari.
Option 3: Dhayah Fort and local stop
Best if you want a short cultural outing rather than a full activity day.
Go early or late to avoid heat.
Day 5: Final resort day

Morning: Beach or pool
Keep the final morning relaxed. Do not spend it rushing between attractions.
Afternoon: Check-out or late lunch
If your flight is late, ask about late check-out or day access to hotel facilities.
Evening: Departure or final dinner
If staying one more night, book your best dinner for the final evening.
What to book in advance
Book ahead for:
- Airport transfers
- Jebel Jais zipline
- Desert safari
- Suwaidi Pearl Farm
- Popular hotel restaurants
- Brunches
- Spa treatments during weekends
What to skip
With five days, skip:
- Overplanning every afternoon
- More than two major excursions
- Multiple hotel changes
- Long restaurant transfers with children
- Trying to copy a Dubai itinerary
So, is 5 days the right length for RAK?
Five days in Ras Al Khaimah is enough for a balanced trip: resort time, Jebel Jais, one desert or heritage experience, and a few good meals. Keep the itinerary simple and the holiday will feel much better.
