What it’s actually like

A big, affordable family resort on Treasure Island — and the weakest guest score on Al Marjan

Radisson Resort Ras Al Khaimah Marjan Island opened on 15 December 2021 as the first property anywhere in the Middle East to carry the “Radisson Resort” badge. It is large — 388 rooms — sits on Treasure Island, the second of Al Marjan’s islands, and runs six restaurants, two pools and a separate children’s pool. Lead-in rates start from around AED 200 a night, which makes it one of the cheapest ways to get a private beach on this island.

It suits families and groups who want beach access, a kids’ club and a licensed bar without paying five-star rates, and travellers who want to be on Al Marjan Island for the Wynn development without the island’s premium pricing. As a four-star it is competing on price and space rather than on finish.

The single biggest reason to hesitate is the guest score. At 7.8 on Hotels.com it is the lowest of the open resorts we cover on Al Marjan Island, and it sits well below Rove Al Marjan Island at 9.2 despite Rove asking less per night. A 7.8 is not a bad hotel, but it is a clear signal that consistency is the issue here, and you should read recent reviews rather than assume.

Location

The resort sits on Treasure Island, the second island in the Al Marjan chain. That distinction matters when you are comparing hotels here: Al Marjan is not one island but several coral-shaped fingers of reclaimed land, and where a hotel sits changes both its outlook and how long it takes to get anywhere else on the island.

Practically, you are around 80 minutes by road from Dubai International, and a short drive from Al Hamra’s marina and mall if you want somewhere to walk in the evening. The island itself is still developing, with construction visible in places, and there is limited off-resort life within walking distance. Plan on a car or taxis. For the full picture of what is on the island, see our Al Marjan hotel guide.

Rooms and suites

388 rooms makes this one of the larger resorts on the island. At four-star level that scale cuts both ways: it means genuine availability at low rates and it means volume, with the queues at breakfast and the wait for a lift that come with it.

Detailed category sizes and layouts are not consistently published, so confirm bed configuration and occupancy directly if you are travelling as a family of four or more. Rooms opened in 2021 and, being a high-turnover four-star, wear varies. This is the most common theme in recent guest feedback and the likeliest explanation for the 7.8 score: not a poor product, but an inconsistent one.

Beach, pool, and facilities

There is a private beach, two pools and a separate children’s pool — a sensible arrangement, because it keeps the splashing away from the adults. There is a kids’ club and a gym, and the resort is licensed, so alcohol is served.

Set against the competition, two pools for 388 rooms is on the tight side. The Sofitel in Al Hamra runs four pools across roughly 6,000 sqm for 339 keys. If your holiday revolves around poolside space in peak season, that difference will be noticeable.

Dining

Six restaurants, including Seafood Shack. Six outlets is a strong count for a four-star and one of the resort’s better arguments, since it reduces the need to leave the property on an island where there is not much to walk to.

Half-board and all-inclusive meal plans are commonly offered here and often represent the better deal given the lack of nearby alternatives. Check exactly which outlets a plan covers before you buy it. If a proper all-inclusive is what you want, compare against the emirate’s dedicated all-inclusive resorts.

Family suitability

This is the resort’s core market and the reason most people book it. A children’s pool separate from the main pools, a kids’ club, six places to eat, a calm private beach and a rate that starts around AED 200 add up to a workable family week without a luxury budget.

Where it falls down is consistency. Families are the least tolerant of a tired room or a slow breakfast service, and that is exactly where the guest score is being lost. If you want the same price point with a much stronger recent record, Rove Al Marjan Island is the obvious comparison, though it has no kids’ club. Our family shortlist sets out the trade-offs.

Couples suitability

Reasonable for a cheap beach break, poor for a romantic one. A 388-room family resort with a children’s pool is not a quiet environment in school holidays, and there is no spa in the published feature set. What you do get is a private beach and a licensed bar at a price that leaves budget for days out at Jebel Jais or an evening elsewhere.

Couples with more to spend should look at Anantara Mina Al Arab or InterContinental Mina Al Arab, both a different proposition entirely.

What is good

  • Among the cheapest private-beach stays on Al Marjan Island, from around AED 200
  • Six restaurants, unusually generous for a four-star
  • Separate children’s pool alongside the two main pools
  • Kids’ club and licensed bars, which the cheaper island newcomers do not all offer
  • On the island, so well positioned for the Wynn development

What is not good

  • A 7.8 guest score, the weakest of the open Al Marjan resorts we cover
  • Two pools for 388 rooms is tight in peak season
  • Scale brings queues — breakfast and lifts are the usual pressure points
  • Little to walk to off-resort; you will want a car or taxis
  • No spa in the published feature set

Value verdict

On paper the value is strong: from around AED 200 for a private beach, six restaurants and a kids’ club on the emirate’s most-watched island. Very little else on Al Marjan does that at this price with a kids’ club attached.

The complication is that Rove Al Marjan Island opened in 2025 at a similar rate with a much higher guest score, and it has reset what AED 200 should buy here. Radisson still wins on kids’ club, restaurant count and children’s pool; Rove wins on newness and consistency. Book Radisson if the family facilities matter, and check recent reviews for your travel month before you commit.

Who should book Radisson Resort Ras Al Khaimah Marjan Island?

Families who need a kids’ club, a children’s pool and several dining options on a modest budget, and who value those specifics over a newer room. Groups who want a licensed beach resort at four-star prices. Anyone who wants an Al Marjan address for a Wynn-focused trip without paying island premium rates.

Who should skip it?

Couples looking for calm, anyone who considers a 7.8 too much of a gamble, and travellers who care about room condition above facilities — Rove is the safer bet at a similar price. Anyone wanting a spa, or a lot of poolside space in February, should look at the Al Hamra resorts instead.

FAQ

Where exactly on Al Marjan Island is the resort?

It sits on Treasure Island, the second of Al Marjan’s reclaimed islands. Al Marjan is a chain rather than a single landmass, so which island a hotel occupies affects both its outlook and how long it takes to reach other parts of the development. Check current road access before travelling.

Why is the guest score only 7.8?

It is the lowest among the open Al Marjan resorts we cover. The recurring themes in guest feedback are inconsistency — room condition varying between categories, and service under pressure at a 388-room property. It is not a poor hotel, but it is a variable one, so read reviews from recent months.

Is there a kids’ club and a children’s pool?

Yes to both. There is a dedicated kids’ club and a separate children’s pool alongside the two main pools, which is one of the resort’s clearest advantages over the cheaper newcomers on the island. Confirm kids’ club opening hours and any age restrictions when you book.

Is alcohol served?

Yes, the resort is licensed and serves alcohol across its outlets, which is standard for resort hotels in Ras Al Khaimah. Six restaurants operate on site. Availability and outlet opening hours vary by season and during Ramadan, so check with the resort for your specific dates.

Bottom line

A large, well-equipped and genuinely cheap family resort on Al Marjan Island, undermined by inconsistency. The facilities list beats anything else at this price on the island, and the guest score is the worst. If your family needs the kids’ club and the children’s pool, book it with your expectations calibrated. If you only need a good room near the beach, Rove costs about the same and scores far higher.
