What it’s actually like

A 300-metre private beach and three water slides at midscale prices

BM Beach Hotel is the answer to a fairly narrow question: how do you put a family on a real private beach in Ras Al Khaimah without paying resort rates? It sits on King Faisal Street with a 300-metre stretch of sand, a pool fed by three slides, a kids’ club and a licensed bar, and it charges from around AED 190 a night. That combination is hard to find anywhere else in the emirate at this price.

The reason to hesitate is the hardware. This is an older property that has been refreshed rather than rebuilt, and the rooms, bathrooms and public areas read as functional rather than current. Guest reviews are warm about the beach, the staff and the value, and considerably cooler about décor and maintenance. If your holiday depends on the room feeling new, this is not the booking. If it depends on the children being occupied from breakfast until sundown, it may well be.

Location

The hotel is on King Faisal Street, on the older, more workaday side of Ras Al Khaimah rather than the developed resort strips. That has two consequences. The first is convenience: you are close to the city, the Corniche and everyday shops and restaurants, so you are not marooned inside a resort with one overpriced supermarket. The second is character: the immediate surroundings are urban and unpolished, and the approach to the hotel does not look like a holiday brochure. The beach itself faces the Gulf and is genuinely private.

Rooms

There are 136 rooms in three published categories. Deluxe and Premium rooms are both listed at 26.42 sqm, which is a normal mid-market size — comfortable for two, workable for two adults and a small child, tight for a family of four. Executive Suites are listed at 79.26 sqm and are the sensible choice if you need separation between a sleeping child and awake adults.

Facilities

The 300-metre private beach is the headline, and it is the reason most people book. Behind it sits a pool with three water slides running into it, which is unusual at this price point and does most of the heavy lifting with children. The Kiddos Club runs supervised activities including face painting, craft and simple science sessions. Archery is offered alongside a watersports operation covering jet skis, kayaks, paddleboards and banana boats, all charged separately.

Dining

Five outlets, plus 24-hour in-room dining. Al Rahala is the main restaurant, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner with a 24-hour à la carte menu behind it. Arcadia Coffee House opens through the day until 11pm. On the drinks side there is Aqua Pool Bar, Waves Beach Bar during daylight hours, and Pebbles Sports Bar, which runs until 2am. Alcohol is served, which is not a given in Ras Al Khaimah’s cheaper properties.

Who it suits

Families with primary-school children who want beach and slides on a budget, and who care more about what their children do all day than about thread counts. It also suits couples who want a licensed beach hotel near the city rather than an isolated resort, and anyone using Ras Al Khaimah as a low-cost base for day trips to Jebel Jais.

What is good

  • Genuinely private 300-metre beach at a price most beach hotels here cannot match
  • Three water slides and a supervised kids’ club, which is rare in this bracket
  • Five food and drink outlets with alcohol served
  • Close to the city, so you are not captive to hotel pricing

What is not good

  • Rooms and bathrooms are dated; this is a refreshed older property, not a new one
  • The setting on King Faisal Street is urban and plain rather than scenic
  • No spa, and the event lawn can mean noise

Value verdict

From around AED 190 a night, check live rates. Judge it on what you would otherwise pay for the same beach-plus-slides combination: the Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab resorts start considerably higher, and the cheaper city hotels have no beach at all. On that basis the value here is strong, provided you accept the condition of the rooms as part of the deal rather than a problem to be complained about.

Who should skip it?

Skip it if you are booking a special occasion, if you want a spa, or if dated fittings will nag at you. Skip it if you want a polished resort bubble — that is not what King Faisal Street offers. And skip it if you are travelling without children, since a large share of the facilities and a fair amount of the noise are aimed squarely at families.

FAQ

Is the beach at BM Beach Hotel private?

Yes. The hotel has a 300-metre stretch of private sandy beach directly in front of it, reserved for guests. Sunloungers and beach service are provided, and watersports including jet skis, kayaks and paddleboards operate from it. Those activities are charged separately and are not included in the room rate.

Does BM Beach Hotel serve alcohol?

Yes. The hotel is licensed and operates three bars: Aqua Pool Bar, Waves Beach Bar and Pebbles Sports Bar, the last of which stays open until 2am. That makes it one of the more affordable licensed beach properties in Ras Al Khaimah, since several cheaper hotels in the emirate are dry.

How far is BM Beach Hotel from Dubai Airport?

Allow around 75 minutes by car in normal traffic, a little longer during weekday peaks or on Friday evenings. Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is much closer, roughly 20 minutes, but it handles far fewer routes, so most international visitors arrive via Dubai and drive or transfer north.

Bottom line

BM Beach Hotel earns its strong guest score by being honest about what it is: an older beach hotel that puts its money into sand, slides and staff rather than interiors. For a family on a budget that is a sound trade. For anyone expecting a contemporary resort, it will disappoint within an hour of check-in. Book it for the beach, and set your expectations for the room accordingly.
