What it’s actually like
Marriott and ADNH’s 466-room Luxury Collection resort, reported for 2028
The Luxury Collection Resort, Al Marjan Island is a large Marriott project signed with Abu Dhabi National Hotels in March 2025. At 466 rooms and suites plus 29 resort villas, with a substantial meetings footprint, it is one of the biggest hotel schemes announced for the island after Wynn itself.
Nobody has stayed here and you cannot book it. This page sets out what the signing announcement actually contained, why the commonly quoted date should be attributed rather than stated, and what remains open.
Opening date
The signing announcement carried no opening date. Marriott and Abu Dhabi National Hotels announced the agreement in March 2025 without naming a year, which is the key point to understand about this project’s timeline.
Press reports have since pointed to 2028, and that is the figure most commonly attached to the project. It should be described as reported rather than announced. Reporting has not been entirely consistent either — at least one trade outlet has suggested an earlier window — which is what tends to happen when an operator declines to name a date and others fill the gap.
So: no announced date, a reported 2028, and some divergence between reports. That is a weaker position than a soft operator date, and considerably weaker than a quarter-level one.

Where it sits on Al Marjan Island
The resort is planned for Al Marjan Island, within the cluster of projects now forming around the Wynn site. With a hotel, villas, 392 apartments and 55 further villas on one scheme, this is a sizeable land take rather than a single building.
The precise plot has not been published in detail. For the island’s layout, beaches and access, see the Al Marjan Island area guide.
What is being built
The hotel element is 466 rooms and suites plus 29 resort villas. Alongside it sit 392 branded apartments and 55 villas as residential product. The meetings provision is the stand-out figure: over 3,500 sqm, including a 1,300 sqm ballroom, which is a genuine conference footprint rather than a resort meeting room.
A spa has been announced, as have padel courts — an unusually specific facility to name at signing, and a sign of how quickly padel has become standard in new Gulf resorts. Dining venues have not been counted, and room categories have not been broken down.
Who it looks right for
The meetings space tells you most of what you need. A 1,300 sqm ballroom and 3,500 sqm of function space put this squarely in the conference, incentive and large-wedding market, alongside leisure guests. That distinguishes it from the smaller, purely leisure projects on the island.
The Luxury Collection is Marriott’s upper-tier collection brand, so individual properties vary considerably in character. Without a design or concept release, the character of this one is not yet knowable.
What is still unconfirmed
- The opening date. None was announced; 2028 is a press figure, and reports differ.
- Construction progress. No milestone or completion percentage has been published.
- The property’s eventual name. Luxury Collection hotels each carry their own.
- The number of restaurants and bars — no figure has been given.
- Room categories and the split between rooms and suites.
- Spa size, pool count and beach frontage.
- When bookings open and at what rates.
Where to stay on Al Marjan Island in the meantime
With a reported date several years out, the practical options are the island’s open resorts. Rixos Bab Al Bahr is the established all-inclusive, SO/ Ras Al Khaimah the newest upper-tier arrival, and the DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island and Radisson Resort Ras Al Khaimah Marjan Island cover the middle.

FAQ
When will it open?
The March 2025 signing announcement gave no date. Press reports have pointed to 2028, and that is the figure generally quoted, though reporting has not been fully consistent. Treat 2028 as a reported expectation rather than an operator commitment.
What will the hotel be called?
Not yet decided publicly. The Luxury Collection is a collection brand, so each hotel trades under its own name with the brand as an endorsement. Until that name is announced, the project is referred to by its brand and location, as here.
Is it suitable for conferences?
On the announced specification, yes — over 3,500 sqm of meetings space including a 1,300 sqm ballroom is a substantial conference footprint. No sales team, floor plan or pricing exists yet, so enquiries cannot be made and dates cannot be held.
Bottom line
A large, well-owned project with a serious meetings component and a clear place in the island’s future as a conference destination. The date is its weakest element: nothing was announced, 2028 is inferred, and no construction milestone has been published to test it against.
How this page was prepared and when it was last checked
Compiled from operator and owner announcements and named trade press, not from a stay. Opening dates in the UAE move often, and a date that was never announced in the first place is the least reliable kind of all. Last checked September 2026.
